What’s Involved in a Spring Cleanup?
With a spring cleanup, we clean the flower beds and grass areas of any winter debris. This includes,
- Cleaning leaves from the fall that may not have been cleaned prior to snowfall.
- Making sure no sticks/twigs remain on the lawn.
- Trimming back perennials.
- Discarding expired seasonal flowers to make way for new spring flowers.
We can also perform Dethatching (discussed in the section below) as well as incorporate new or seasonal plantings, color and new mulch, and any other landscaping needs.

Dethatching
We can also perform a “lawn dethatch.” Thatch is a loose, intermingled organic layer of dead and living shoots, stems and roots that develop between the zone of green vegetation and soil surface.
Thatch buildup begins when the turf produces organic debris faster than it can be broken down. We use a machine called a “power rake” that pulls the thatch out of the ground, allowing for water and nutrients to penetrate the soil in an easier and more efficient way, creating a healthy, beautiful green lawn.
